After 8 months of 2015 Polish coal export was almost 2 million tons bigger than import, and for the first time since 2008 Poland has a great opportunity to become once again a net coal exporter. With 7.2 million tons exported by September 2015 Polish producers will easily align with the last year’s result (8.35 million tons), while import with its 4.68 million tons in August (no data for September available yet) most probably would only slightly exceed half of the volume from 2014 (10.31 million tons).

Despite the situation on the Polish market and necessity of moving some of its export to other EU countries, Russia still holds the first place among the Polish coal importers with 60% of share in the market, importing from January to August 888,868 tons more than all the other coal importers combined together.
