LESS HARD COAL IN DOMESTIC PORTS

Mainly because of increasing coal prices on international markets in second half of the year and fixed low prices of Polish coal, in 2016 Baltic ports in Gdansk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Swinoujscie recorded lower handling of this commodity.

In 2016 in Polish ports handled 2.9m Mt of hard coal, which means decrease by 6% YOY.

In first 3Q around 90% of coal imported to Poland by sea freight was shipped by EDF, mainly from Colombian Drummond. In the last quarter of 2016 some of it was also ordered by ArcelorMittal for its coke plants (coking coal).
